Stretch!

Screenshot4What do you do when your child turns out to be extremely talented at sports at a very young age, and enters a world full of expectations, tension and disappointment? What would be the best way to guide your child, even though you as a parent, struggle with those same emotions?

Our kids’ talents are very important in our society. We have to support our kids and push them to their limits to make them happy and successful. The professional sports are a perfect example of such expectations. Parents expect a lot from their children. They make sure they get the right education and if they need tutoring, they’ll get tutoring. Kids join several clubs and go to many festivals or get extra training. Their achievements are rewarded with compliments and gifts. Kids have to be smart, creative, socially active and have to be full of confidence. It seems as if failure is a taboo.

How can you support your child without being too pushy? How can you best take care of your kid and make sure they feel alright? Esther Pardijs will explore this difficult role as a mother who is completely new to the world of sports.
