How to Describe a Cloud was nominated at the International Film Festival Rotterdam for the Big Screen Award in 2013 and for two ‘Gouden Kalf’ at the Dutch film festival (2013) in the categories ‘Best Sound’ and ‘Best director’.
Straddling the line between reality and fantasy, this meditative film tells the story of the young girl Liling, who has abandoned her mother in the countryside in order to become a DJ amidst the neon lights of Taipei. But when her mother goes blind and can no longer take care of herself, Liling is forced to reevaluate her life. Returning to her coastal village, she has to face a new reality which, as she experiences elusive flashes of extrasensory perception, threatens to disrupt all the firmly anchored rules that previously governed her world.
After gratuaded at the Filmacadamy in Amsterdam, David Verbeek left for China and makes the film ‘R U There’ a multi-dimensional experience that compries 20% Second Life images. The film got selected to Un Certain Regard in Cannes. More information about David Verbeek, visit his website.
